Traveling by train through Japan is a very good choice. Itfs efficient , fast and reliable.
The distances are so big in Japan that it is not advisable to go by car or coach.
The Japan Rail Pass gives you the right to travel consecutive 7, 14 or 21 days through out Japan on all Japan Rail (JR) Lines. Thatfs including also the Shinkansen, the famous bullit trains (except the Nozomi & Mizuho).

Inside of the pass

The voucher

The Japan Rail Pass can only be bought outside Japan. Japan Tours sells the vouchers for these Japan Rail Passes via the hereunder given request form.

In Japan at certain train stations you will have to exchange the voucher into the actual Japan Rail Pass. The voucher that we make for you has a validity of 3 months. In that period you should have exchanged the voucher to the rail pass.

The 4 steps to get your Japan Rail Pass
General Conditions
1. The voucher must be exchanged to the Rail Pass within 3 months after the issue date.
2. You should be able to show your passport at the moment of the exchange
3. Only foreign tourist with the stamp g temporary visitor h in their passport are allowed to use the Rail Pass.
People with e.g. a student, business or cultural visa are excluded.
4. The Rail Pass is not valid on the gNozomih shinkansen bullit trains on the Tokaido (Tokyo-Osaka) and Sanyo (Osaka-Fukuoka) lines. Also not valid on the "Mizuho" bullit trains on the Sanyo (Osaka-Fukuoka) and Kyushu (Fukuoka-Kagoshima) lines.
5. Applicable on the Rail Pass are the ANVR booking conditions
6. You always have to carry your passport with you when using the Rail Pass.
Terms of Payment

We need to receive your payment at least 7 days before departure in case of leaving from the Netherlands. And at least 2 weeks (or more) when you order your passes outside the Netherlands. In case we do (can) not receive the amount within these given time frames you need to make an appointment and come to our office to pick up the Japan Rail Pass(es) by yourself. In that case you will have to make an appointment with us (020-5709810).

 

Cancellation Fee

In case you did not use the voucher of the Rail Pass(es) it is possible to get a refund.
The voucher should be in the original status, so not stamped by JR already. We charge 15% of the voucher value in Euro per pass as cancellation fee. Please note that the administration fee of 10 euro is not refundable.

 

How to pay our invoice?

On the form you can make your choice. Please note, we only accept euro's.
There are 2 ways:

  1. By bank.
    Please transfer the amount to our ABN AMRO bankaccount number on time (on or before the due date).
    Our accounting department should be able to trace your payment at least 8 days before departure in case you live in the Netherlands. For abroad we count at least 15 days.
    If not traceable, you have to come to our office after making an appointment because we do not send any mail out within 7 (or 14) days before departure.
  2. By Cash
    Off course no problem.
Last Minutes Request

Be aware !
If you are leaving soon (for us thatfs within 14 days before departure) to Japan but forgot to order the Rail Pass, you have to watch the following points:

Please order the pass on time and pay on time !
We need to see the amount on our bankaccount at least 7 days (or 14 days in case of ordering outside of NL) before departure. If that is not the case you need to come to our office (after making a appointment)

You can always come to our office to purchase the Japan Rail Pass, but only by making use of underneath given request form. In the order form you can make an appointment.
The counter for rail passes is open on Monday-Friday from 9:30 a.m. till 5 p.m.

Please notice !
To clients which come to our office without an appointment and without filling in the request form we have to surcharge 5 euro extra per pass.

Suggestion:
in case you cannot come to our office you can ask a travelagency (only in case of Dutch travel agencies!) in your vicinity to order the Pass for you.
Then they will take care of the payment etc.

We do not send it to travelagencies within 1 week before your departure. Therefore the Rail Pass will be send to the Avia Partner desk at Schiphol Airport. Please note that this service is only possible for Schiphol Airport Amsterdam.

Please note that we do not control the prices/fees etc which are given/charged by travelagencies.
F.y.i: Travelagencies have to order the Pass at least 1 day before departure and in case of a Sunday or Monday departure at least on the Friday before.


This service of sending Rail Passes to Schiphol Airport is only available for travelagents.
The conditions therefore are not on this website.

 

Administration Fee

We charge € 10 per pass. Also in case of children and groups.
